I installed grid republic on a laptop and it seemed to work fine with two projects.
I installed it recently on a desktop (PC with XP) and each time I want to use my computer (and when a project is active) the computer freezes. I wait a reasonable amount of time, try all sorts of things, but no luck. I have to power down and restart my computer. This not good. For now I'm removing the program.
Also - for some reason my new computer is not listed under My Computers even though I added it.
Advice?
1} i wonder: what project(s) were running on the computer which was having problems?
2} as for the machine not being listed: seems like maybe it did not connect properly to GR, or it somehow got connected to a different account. might be worth resolving issue #1 first, though.
I had Rosetta@home and Einstein@home. I believe it froze on either of them when I tried to begin use of my computer.
I will try to reinstall again from scratch and see if that helps.
How'd that go for you?
If you haven't tried yet, you might want to re-install with the latest version of the GR desktop software (for windows), which you can get here, or with the latest version of BOINC.
