GridRepublic not showing updated stats?

Hello

I've noticed that the Grid Republic site doesn't seem to be updating my statistics, as compared to the BOINC Manager on my system.

Now, I know GridRepublic just collates projects and information and doesn't run projects, but it's a little worrying.

Is it possible to (easily) check that I am a) getting credit for my cycles and b) more importantly, that the results are being uploaded to the various servers correctly, other than manually checking each project's website?

Thanks a bunch, and keep up the good work!

Michael

I wonder: is the email associated with your GR account the same as the email you origininally used when creating your BOINC project accounts?  (and if your are running World Community Grid: is the "name" on your GR account the same as the "name" on your WCG account?)

This is the same issue I am having...although more eloquently written than my original Smiley

ok, but in 99.9% of cases where this problem is reported it is a user who {a} comes to GR with pre-existing BOINC accounts, and {b} missed the instruction to be sure to use the same email here and then for some reason registers at GR with a different address.  so i want to make sure michael is taken care of here, and we'll deal with your issue-- which so far appears quite unusual--  in the thread you opened elsewhere.

so michael: does the above describe your situation?

The lack of credit update has been happening to me, too, for the last week or so.  The refresh button does not update my totals - which I know are increasing based on project and combined stat sites.

Also, I am unable to logout.  Whenever I click the link to "LOG OUT", I get returned to the home page.  This happens from every page I've tried at the GR site.

Thanks Ritterm for your post.  I realize now that the problem you guys are encountering is that your stats used to be current at GR, but now are not.  that is a somewhat different situation than I had previously understood (I thought you were all encountering problems more or less upon joining).

As for the logout problem -- are any of the other people who are having stats problems (Michael, bferrari) also having the same logout problem?  (I cannot reproduce it).

Also, can everyone in this thread please reply with:

  • Your complete list of projects (active and past)
  • Info about the web browser you use (program, version #, operating system)

Thanks.

Yes, I am also having the same logout problem, isn't that funny.

My browser  is Firefox 3.0.4 Windows Vista

Ok, I just logged in on another Windows XP machine using IE 7.0 browser, I had UPDATED STATS!!   Then, I refreshed my Firefox browser on my original workstation where I was having all the problems, and suddenly my stats are updated there too!!!!

Caching issue, but at the server level?? This is strange.

Does anyone else find the problem resolved by using another browser?

It occurs to me that it might not be the change in web browser that helped bferrari -- it might be the fact that he logged out and then logged back in...

By way of background: stats at GR are updated in only two cases: {1} upon login, and {2} upon click of the "refresh" button.  (this is different from how BOINC statistics sites work.)

When we launched these "Community" pages, we increased the "session length" -- ie, the length of time you stay logged in.  The idea was that this would be a convenience; but a side effect is that your stats might not be updated upon return vists since you don't need to login.

So: does the "refresh" button -- or logout+login-- help anyone?

My inability to logout seems to be resolved as well.  I logged into my account from a PC that I had never used to check GR and then logged out.  Since then I don't seem to be having any problems logging out from whatever PC I use.

Sorry...I meant to add that I'm not sure about the "refresh" issue.  I will check this over the next day or two.

I don't mean to hijack the thread here, but I like that you've lengthened the session timeout - I found it a little annoying to have to log back in all the time to check my stats.  Maybe I misunderstand something, but is there any way to provide a "keep me logged in" option?  I realize this might have security implications, but thought I'd ask.

Thanks for being active in the forum, Matt!  :-)

bferrari, michael -- are you still having logout problems?  are your stats issues resolved by either {a} refresh button, {b} logout+login, and/or {c} using a different browser?

I don't seem to be having a problem loging out anymore.  Not sure about Refresh as I need to wait with an open session for a while to try that.

Login/Logout seems to work with both IE 7.0 and Firefox 3.0.4. Did you make some code changes to fix this?

Thanks,
Bob

The refresh button isn't working for me on the same host that I used to be having logout problems with.  If I log out and then back in, the stats are updated.  I'm running Windows XP Pro and IE7.  I will check on my Vista host as soon as I can.

Here's what I gather so far:

Some sort of login session / cookie problem surfaced on Dec 9 during an update in the login process. Anyone who was logged into GridRepublic at that exact time will likely have this problem.

Removing all GridRepublic cookies from the affected browser and then logging out (if necessary) and logging back in should correct it. An automated fix isn't yet possible since the exact cause is still unknown...

As Matt has said, this logout problem together with the long session lifetime has prevented stats updates for some users because this data is normally updated during login. Add to that an unrelated problem with the manual "Refresh" button and many users could have found themselves stuck. The manual "Refresh" should now work, as that problem, at least, has been fixed.

If anyone is still having trouble with the logout, it would be helpful to see what cookies are registered in your browser from GridRepublic. I know in Firefox 3 you can go to Tools -> Page Info, then select the Security section and click the View Cookies button. If you search for "gridrepublic.org" you should see all relevant cookies.
