No Computers Showing Up

I downloaded the Progress Thru Processors Desktop software a couple of days ago and have had a project processing on my computer ever since then. However, when I click Computers on the gridrepublic website, it says I have no computers associated with my account. How can I fix this?

Scott,

First, make sure that your computers are able to be viewed in the project. Open the GridRepublic homepage and go to "Projects" along the top. Find the project ("Power through Processors", it seems) and make sure the checkbox marked "I would like my computers to be shown on the project web site" is ticked. If not, tick it. Click Apply at the bottom of the page.

Once you have marked the computers as visible, Synchronize your clients with GR (Tools>Syncronize from Advanced View, Syncronize from Simple View), and then on the GR home page, go to "Computers" along the bottom, then click "Refresh". It could take up to 30 minutes for your computers to show up once the settings are changed.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for your help. I didn't have Show Computers checked. I've followed the directions you gave me several times now, but I'm still seeing No Computers under My Computers.

Hi Scott, it looks like you registered at GridRepublic first and then added Progress Thru Processors at Facebook. When adding the app at Facebook, it also seems that you added it as a "new" user rather than an existing GridRepublic user, so it created a separate GridRepublic account for you.

Long story short, your computer is attached to the original GridRepublic account and Facebook is attached to a separate account. Not too tough to fix, if this is the case. Try this:

  1. Go to the Facebook applications menu and select Edit Applications; remove Progress Thru Processors from your account
  2.  Add the Progress Thru Processors app to your Facebook account again (click "Go to Application" button)
  3. Allow access, then when the registration page appears, select "No," you are an existing GridRepublic user
  4. Enter your mac.com email address (assuming I have this right and you know which one I'm talking about) and the associated password that you used when creating the GridRepublic account

With any luck, this should attach your Facebook account to the GridRepublic account that your computer is attached to. At this point, you should see your project on the dashboard page and have points showing in your chart.
