PTP Generated email/password and Ubuntu

Hello,

I'm trying to install BOINC via PTP on an Ubuntu 9.04 computer, but because PTP uses a generated GridRepublic email/password combination I can't get BOINC to authenticate since I don't know the password. I can't reset the password with my facebook email - I have to use the generated  GridRepublic email - and I can't access the GridRepublic mailbox.

Is there any way to retrieve or reset the password or another way to login to GridRepublic from BOINC?

Thanks

You should be able to use the information provided here http://apps.facebook.com/processors/credentials to attach to your PTP account.

NOTE: This is not a real email address, nor a real password.

  • if you want use PTP with linux, the simplest approach is to join GR first, then join PTP.  this will allow you to specify a "real" email + pw.  (i mention this as much for others who may come upon this thread as for you.)
  • you can change your email and pw by visiting the GR home page and clicking the "my account" tab.  you'll need the info displayed on the page linked above in spark's post.
