Phase I Test Agenda **COMPLETED**

The first task is to establish whether or not the server is reliable-- we’ve been having some problems with it, and your feedback will be invaluable in getting the the bottom of these problems.  So when testing for the moment, please do not report cosmetic issues, or places where the interface is confusing, or where functionality is deficient.

Please *do* report pages that do not load, connections that appear dropped, instances where forms are submitted but records are not updated, or anyplace where you are forced to "retry" or reload/refresh a page.  (Or, please let us know if you do not find such issues within the first day or two of use.)

The Mailing List: gralpha@picador.net

Please send all test feedback to the gralpha mailing list, gralpha@picador.net.  This will be an open, community discussion. (If you are reading this page, it is assumed that you have already joined.  Otherwise, please click here.)

When submitting error reports, please include the following:

    - date/time
(please specify time to the minute,
           and specify time zone)
    - your IP address (external IP address)
    - URL of any problem page(s)
    - what you were doing / what happened

The Test Site

The test site is available at http://www.gridrepublic.org/gr

For testing purposes, please limit to joining the following projects:

    - Seti@Home
    - Seti Beta Test
    - CPlan

...Not all projects have updated their server software yet, so projects other than the above may or may not work

Useful Tips

* Changes made at the website (ex adding/removing projects, changing preferences, etc) can take time to propagate.  To apply changes in near-real-time, you need to open the client application and manually initiate an update.  This can be done by going to the "Tools" menu and selecting "Synchronize with GridRepublic".  Please do this a lot, even for no reason at all, and note if this generates any errors.

* Note that the client has a "Messages" tab: this logs all activity and can be a useful debugging tool.  This log can be copied with the "Copy Messages" button on that screen, and can be pasted into bug report emails.

* You may want to uninstall and reinstall at various times for testing (or if you just want out).  To uninstall, go to your control panel, select "Add/Remove" and then remove "GridRepublic".  Note that for a complete uninstall you need also to go to "/Program Files" and to delete the "BOINC" folder.  Else, any subsequent installation will remember who you are and your projects, which may or may not be what you want as a test user.
